Les comparaisons en anglais : comparatif et superlatif (3ème)
En anglais, on compare des personnes ou des choses avec le comparatif et le superlatif des adjectifs. La règle dépend de la longueur de l'adjectif : court (une syllabe) ou long (deux syllabes ou plus). C'est une notion clé du programme de 3ème.
Comparatif de supériorité : pour un adjectif court, on ajoute -er + than (ex. tall → taller than). Pour un adjectif long, on utilise more + adjectif + than (ex. more expensive than).
Exemple
Ravo et Soa habitent à Antsirabe. Ravo dit : "Antananarivo is bigger than Antsirabe." (Antananarivo est plus grande qu'Antsirabe.) Et : "A zebu is more expensive than a chicken at the market." (Un zébu est plus cher qu'un poulet au marché.)

- Adjectif court : adjectif + -er than (cheap → cheaper than).
- Adjectif long : more + adjectif + than (beautiful → more beautiful than).
- Superlatif : the -est (the tallest) ou the most + adjectif (the most expensive).
- Irréguliers : good → better / the best ; bad → worse / the worst.
